The city of Spencer has had electricity in the community before 1901 when the city took over the operations and later turned the utilities over to a separate board in 1942 when Spencer Municipal Utilities was born.

Much of the community has been converted to underground lines so we have a great looking city without a lot of overhead power lines.

We also know that energy efficiency is important to our customers and have several things in place to help customers conserve from free energy saving kits, to rebates on lighting, insulation and HVAC systems. Visit our energy efficiency page for more information!
